Have you met Kendra from My Insanity?
I so enjoy the What’s in My Handbag series. Seriously. I get a little giddy about opening up each girl’s post when it comes…
I was really curious about Kendra’s share. The girl is not kidding when she says she’s insane…The first time I needed her help she pulled a freaking Karaoke machine out of her back pocket (or her minivan, but whatever.)
Suffice it to say, I am expecting a little bit more Mary Poppins than Kate Spade with this one!
Before we jump to Kendra’s bag though, I want to share a few of my favorite My Insanity posts…
1. Robot design camp
2. Camping birthday party – have you ever seen leaf bunting?
3. Cute little gnome hats and beards – great for a fairy party, or maybe even Christmas
4. Office chair makeover
5. 10-year-old birthday school treatsÂ
Go visit Kendra and check out all of her insane ideas!
What’s in My Handbag: My Insanity
First of all, I must thank Tauni for giving me the motivation I needed to clean out my purse! To say that it was overdue for a good cleaning would be a serious understatement, but it is much better after writing this post.
In the spirit of disclosure, I will tell you that I have omitted the garbage, receipts, and feminine products from my pictures because a)who really wants to look at that and b)I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have fit it all into the frame.
Here is a little glimpse at the insanity that is my purse:
See it’s even identified as insanity. And before we start, I need to give a warm welcome to my new iPhone. It replaces my battered up Droid that was about to be thrown out the window a week or so ago. My 5-year-old daughter helped me pick out the case, and my son calls it my “Coconut Phone.” I think that is what he heard instead of “Polka Dot,” but it’s cute, right?
Here is the rest of the contents, by number:
1-See the ode above to my new phone.
2-My planner. It is personalized to say “Kendra’s Insanity” because personalization was part of the on-line deal. I didn’t used to think bright pink and crocodile were my style, but they are becoming more my style than boring black like it used to be.
3-Fun yellow wallet I got on Amazon and love-and it’s yellow!
4-Sunglasses case from Charming Charlie–Confession: It hasn’t held my sunglasses for a little while because it is full of Nerds candy. Can’t remember why we had to stash it there.
5-Sunglasses. White has been fun for summer. Maybe I’ll pull out the champagne ones for fall…if I think about it.
6-I don’t remember putting the Pepperidge Farms Snack fish in my purse. It is currently full of mini-wheats.
7- A temporary Pirate tattoo. Who knows where it came from, but always good to have on-hand…just in case.
8-Toy Monster Truck. Monster Trucks are my son’s favorite thing ever, and he can’t seem to manage to carry them all in his arms.
9-Toy Bee from my kids’ game. I have no idea.
10-A couple of diapers. Though I am hoping I won’t have to carry these around much longer. My little man has been using the potty lately. Of course, the wipes are missing, which is a problem, because wipes are good for everything!
11-An emergency Vintage Rose Wrap and scrunchi.
12-Hand lotion and sunscreen. I’m not always that prepared but the lotion was a gift and the sunscreen has been hanging around since summer.
13-Keys on a couple of carabiners because my husband is a gear guy. They are handy for hooking on to purse straps. And a quarter that didn’t make the wallet. It’s Nevada–so not that exotic for an Arizonan.
14- Make-up:
- Both things of mascara that I own. Which is a problem when I go to put on make-up in my bathroom.
- Lip gloss and lipstick. The cheap one was a Christmas gift from one of my kids
15-An assortment of totally useless writing utensils. Colored pencils, a marker, and an unsharpened pencil. Check writing is a challenge.
16-Business cards when I remember them.
Here’s one more look while I reflect on the educational benefits of this exercise. Things I learned:
- I need to clean out my purse more often
- I need a better system for managing my receipts. Suggestions?
- I carry around a lot of stuff I don’t use and forget to carry around the stuff I do.
- I’m having much more fun with colorful mix-and-match accessories, than with basic black that is supposed to go with everything!
Kendra, thanks so very much for sharing what’s in your bag. I have to say it lived up to what I expected. You’re ready for everything!

Funny. I hadn’t thought about the the karaoke machine in relation to what you might find in my handbag, but I see the connection. Kind of random, but maybe useful! So glad I was Mary Poppins that day.
Thanks so much for the feature! It was fun!

Kendra, Well, know that you know what I think of you…You can see why Mary Poppins came to mind, no?! Thanks so much for participating in this serious. xoxo, Tauni
