DIY West Elm Style Bubble Air Plants

West Elm Style Bubble Air Plants

I've started trimming back a lot of my outdoor plants for fall. Though I love this time of year, I do get a little sad clearing out the fading flowers from my deck and getting the planters ready for winter storage. I am especially sensitive because there is a real lack of light, and plants, in my main living space...The situation has helped establish my infatuation with decorating with air plants and succulents. Anyone else have a similar infatuation? I started an air plant style file ages ago. Here are a few favorites... Shane Powers Bubbles via West Elm Cube Aerium via Flora … [Read more...]

Summer Recap

School's back in session here. Though I am sad to have the "lazy" days of summer coming to a close, I sometimes feel like it's harder to get things "DONE" while it's warm out and the kids are around. (What the heck is wrong with me?) I did accomplish a few things this summer and thought I would share some of my favorite posts from over the last three months. Summer 2012 Projects I just realized that half the projects I selected are food...What can I say I like to eat! 1. DIY Beach Waves Hair Spray - this stuff has saved my bacon and hour of extra sleep. 2. How to Make Thor's Hammer - … [Read more...]

We've also been celebrating what has become something of a family tradition. Shark … [Read more...]

Ikea Draper Event Recap & Project Link-Up

I had such fun helping to host 75 bloggers and their children at an event held at Ikea, Draper. It's fun to get to know one another in person, but it was even more fun to see so many of you in your "element" as moms. The kids were a delight and I am supremely grateful to Ikea, Draper (thanks Camille!) for being so inclusive. Also, a special thanks to Emily, from is this REALLY my life, who saved MY life when my camera's battery died and took the great photos I'm sharing with you today. Ikea Draper We started the morning in the dining area enjoying breakfast "on the house." I enjoyed casually … [Read more...]

Show and Tell Linky No. 10

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you probably already know that this last week was full of trips and travels. I was fortunate enough to attend a wonderful event, hosted by Daybreak, to celebrate the DIY Blogger House entry in the Salt Lake Parade of Homes. I am so proud of Amy, Char, Jen, Lara and Shelley - their hard work helped the developer sweep several of the awards categories this year! I spent the second half of my week attending BlogHer in NYC. No matter how many of these types of events I go to, I never take enough photos, but here are a few highlights. 1. BlogHer is not … [Read more...]

Feature Friday: The DIY Village

I am really excited to share just a hint of the awesome that is today's Feature Friday...Please meet one amazing do-it-yourself duo - Matt and Jaque - who run The DIY Village.  I met Matt and Jaque about a month ago at Haven. Berry Baskets

I spent this last weekend at Evo with some delightful friends! It was a bit like summer camp and everyone came bearing gifts! Perhaps one of my favorite little goodies were these adorable berry gift baskets from the Orange Blossom Shop girls: Adorable, right?! The girls have these sweet little berry baskets available in their shop for a steal, which is a darn good thing because I've been obsessed with berry basket gift ideas since the moment I got home. You've also got to check out their selection of frames - incredible quality. Not only did I get to know the Orange Blossom Shop girls … [Read more...]

Furniture Flip: Embrace the Funk

We've all seen these kind of pieces at the thrift stores time and time again.  Old...70s looking...funky... Sometimes there's just no amount of paint that's going to disguise the funkiness.  So I say, don't fight it! Let's take that retro funk and turn it up to 11! (...said in my best Spinal Tap accent.) This crazy little octagonal pedestal side table reminded me of something you'd find in Wonderland, so I decided to run with it's whimsicality with a fun black and white distressed finish and a harlequin top. All it takes for you to create your own harlequin pattern is a little math, some paint … [Read more...]
