Summer Tortellini Salad Recipe

Summer Tortellini Salad

Utah's weather can be a little crazy...one day it's 45 degrees, while the next it's 80. However, you will find that once we've had one warm day here, we all pretend that it's summer.  Though it was a colder day outside, we're dining like it's in the 90's. Summer Tortellini Salad Recipe Ingredients Cheese tortellini Peppers Grape tomatoes Summer sausage (you could use something stronger, I am just not a spice girl) Parmesan cheese Basil Italian dressing Directions Cook and drain cheese tortellini. (I like to add just a touch of EVOO to the water to ensure that the … [Read more...]

Artichoke Poppy Seed Cheese Bread

Artichoke Poppyseed Cheese Bread Recipe via http://snapcreativity.com

I am going to own up. Though I have pinned a ton of ideas on Pinterest, I have never ever really made anything inspired by the site. Please tell meI am not the only one to do this?!? I decided in Januaryif I was going to continue to spend time on Pinterest, I needed to actually use it effectively (i.e. make something I had pinned). It's March, but I have finally made good on my New Year's commitment. I started with a recipe called Bloomin' Onion Bread from the Girl Who Ate Everything. Of course, I changed it up. For the original, which has been pinned hundreds of thousands of times, be … [Read more...]

Jalapeno Ranch Dip Recipe

Jalapeno Ranch Dip

This time of year we do a lot of entertaining. Whether it's guests for a football game, a fall feast or even Thanksgiving, one dish that cannot be skipped is the ubiquitous veggie tray. Right? Though I'd like to pretend it's the vegetables I am interested in, I have to own up...For me, it's all about the dip. Today I am sharing one of my favorite veggie tray dip recipes - Jalapeno Ranch Dip. This has just enough zing to make it special, but it's mild enough that spice wimps like me can enjoy it as well... Fall-tastic Cinnamon Nutmeg Banana Bread Recipe

fall banana bread recipe

I love bananas and nearly always pick up a bunch while at the store, but I don't always get around to eating them...and so they brown. They brown and brown and when they are about 10 seconds away from attracting pesky little fruit flies I mash them up and make banana bread. This go round I made my fall banana bread recipe. What? You don't have seasonal banana bread recipes? How can this be? In the winter I make this delightful chocolate marbled banana bread. In the spring, I make a nice light, fluffy bread (I will have to blog that recipe this next year). I've relied on this super-yummy … [Read more...]

Ghostly Grub Halloween Treat

Halloween treat

Several of our Halloween traditions seem to revolve around a particular movie for some reason... You might remember I talked about our annual Great Pumpkin showing when I shared the orange slice candy pumpkin a few weeks ago? This week, we watched Hocus Pocus. Anyone else remember that one? I wanted to make a popcorn treat for our screening and decided to go with a popcorn candy mix. Ghostly grub anyone? Halloween Popcorn Treat Ingredients Unflavored popcorn - I like to make my own homemade microwave popcorn. It's tons cheaper. Candy corn Candy corn M&Ms (you could use regular … [Read more...]

Some of you may have seen my orange slice candy pumpkin centerpiece over at Eighteen25 last week, but I thought I would share it here for those of you who missed it. Mozzarella Melon Fruit Salad Recipe

Mozzarella-Melon

The boys eat watermelon like nothing else, so when we're having a summertime celebration I always try to pick one up. The other day when I went to purchase food for our annual gathering to celebrate the start of the football season, there weren't any small-to-medium sized watermelon in sight. I purchased the smallest of the melons on hand and though we ate a lot, I still had more than half the watermelon left. Combine that melon with all of the peaches that fell off the tree in a storm and you've got a bit of a weird fruit combination. Fortunately, I came across a delightful southern … [Read more...]

Summer Recap

Summer-Projects-2012-1024x750

School's back in session here. Though I am sad to have the "lazy" days of summer coming to a close, I sometimes feel like it's harder to get things "DONE" while it's warm out and the kids are around. (What the heck is wrong with me?) I did accomplish a few things this summer and thought I would share some of my favorite posts from over the last three months. Summer 2012 Projects I just realized that half the projects I selected are food...What can I say I like to eat! 1. DIY Beach Waves Hair Spray - this stuff has saved my bacon and hour of extra sleep. 2. How to Make Thor's Hammer - … [Read more...]

Easy Mini Peach Cobbler Recipe

Several weeks ago I mentioned my grandma had passed away. What I didn't mention is what a process it would be going through her house. Like many women her age, she saved everything! Fortunately, I think we all were blessed by one or two of her everyday saves. I was able to take home these fun vintage Pyrex custard dishes. I am not a big fan of custard, but we LOVE to serve mini desserts around here and they've taken a place of honor on the dish shelf. Between the delightfully ripe white peaches in the kitchen and the sweet little vintage Pyrex dishes calling to me from the shelf, it really … [Read more...]
