Show & Tell Wednesday No. 24: The Handbuilt Home {Giveaway}

Ana White’s The Handbuilt Home

It’s not often that a get so nervous over meeting another blogger that I loose my words. (Let’s be honest, it’s really not often that I am at a loss for words period.)

And, although I was a bit beside myself with nerves, I was thrilled to meet Ana White when she flew all the way from Alaska to speak at SNAP! last year.

The Handbuilt HomeAna is one of my DIY heros. On her site you will find simple step-by-step instructions for building just about anything you ever might need for your home.

And now? She has a new book out called The Handbuilt Home.

The Handbuilt HomeHave you seen it yet?

The Handbuilt Home is chock full of simple, budget friendly DIY projects. I love how easy to follow the directions are and I adore that she’s featured builds by friends like Amy and Kirsten.

What was really fun though was having my brother Adam, a builder, thumb through the book and get excited. In fact, he stole my copy and I had to go buy a new one!

In a sentence. The Handbuilt Home is awesome!

To give you a taste for what the book is all about, Ana has generously offered a download of the Farmhouse bench instructions (I’ve actually got one in the works) for free!

Show & Tell Highlights

This first feature was a natural click for me. I LOVE bulletin boards, plus I was just whining about trophy storage yesterday (my mom is threatening to throw out all of my high school trophies – can you imagine?! LOL). In any event, you MUST check out this darling DIY trophy display and bulletin board from House on Harrison.

The Handbuilt Home

And, wouldn’t you know the plans for this bulletin board trophy display piece came from Ana White’s book The Handbuilt Home.

I love these DIY vintage-style grates shared by Cynthia at the Jordan Valley Home and Garden Club

  25. I adore Ana White, and had no idea that she had a book out! I NEED this book so much! My husband is NOT a handy guy at all (seriously, he BREAKS things when he tried to “fix” them!!) and we need this so that we can turn our little cookie cutter house into a more defined space. I really want to build ourselved a king sized bed complete with a headboard! Right now our bed is on rails. We have never had a “real” bed because they cost so so much to buy at furniture stores. Being able to make one would be a dream come true!

  31. What room inspires me most in my home? Hmmm… That would be whatever room is bugging me the most. I’ve been known to get a cup of tea (or slice of pie), pull up a chair, and stare at the room, imagining possibilities, until I settle on a design plan. I don’t always stick to the plan, but I find this method works great as a starting point!

  34. The room that inspires me is our little office/craft room. I’ve been trying to fill it with colors, patterns, and things that inspire to create. My kids are loving it!
