Thanks to those who were able to join us for today’s Thrifting and Up-Cycling #SNAPit Twitter Chat. And a special thanks to our resident thrifting and up-cycling goddess, Mandi, for being a guest panelist today. She definitely brought the knowledge I was lacking.
Every week our goal for #SNAPit is to create an online environment that leads to engagement, sharing, learning, and of course a little fun. We accomplish this with a interesting topic, great questions, and some of the most fabulous attendees around.. Thank you to this amazing creative, DIY, and craft community for making our weekly chats one of the best places to be on Thursday mornings. Our 45 minute chats have so much buzz and positivitiy surrounding them. So, SNAP! yourself on the back for helping make today a successful chat: (reporting the last 24 hours)
Today’s #SNAPit Twitter chat was all about thrifting and up-cycling. Something I am secretly obsessed with but have NO idea how to do. I watched intently as each person answered the questions so I could soak up all the information. I was amazed at how many thrifting and up-cycling geniuses there are out there. It seemed everyone had at least 1 or 2 amazing projects they had worked on. I realize that some couldn’t make it to today’s #SNAPit and I know that this is a topic that really interests so many now that yardsale season is upon us. But not to worry, I am giving you a little peak inside today’s chat:
Q1-How often do you go to yard sales, thrift, or consignment stores? What do you typically buy?
@ourdiydiaries- At least 3 times a month. I love frames and furniture, and some glassware #SNAPIt
@eisleyrae- Q1: Weekly.. try to at least! Always looking for vintage finds! #snapit
Q2-Do you buy an item for what it is or what you can make of it? Why/Why not?
@craftymomcooks- Most of the stuff I buy is ugly, then I make it pretty. LOL! #snapit
@ninth_street- Q2: Sometimes for what it is. Usually to try and make something else. Makes me feel all creative & stuff. #SNAPIt
Q3-What are some of your favorite thrift store buys turned up-cycled project?
@byrdy1999- Q3. I found some great curtins that turned into a chair cover #SNAPIt
@mowpow08- Old jeans – turned into an awesome quilt! #SNAPIt
Q4-What is your dream thrift find? What would you do with it?
@vintagerevivals- A4: It changes for me on a constant basis. That is a SUPER hard question!! #SNAPIt
@laraellieg- I wouldn’t know my dream find if it walked right up and bit me. I have to text @vintagerevivals and ask her first. #impaired #SNAPit
