Having worked in PR, I had the opportunity to work with a lot of “stars.” I never really got star struck…Then I started working with bloggers and guess what? There are some bloggers that I sort of have up on a pedestal…
I was so very excited to meet Sarah in person this summer and I am happy to report that she is ABSOLUTELY as FABULOUS in person as she is online. I adore her.
I also think her work is pretty fabulous too. I thought I would share a few of my favorite TDC projects…
1. Sunburst Mirror – not sure if it’s the mirror I love, or her discussion of trendy decor, but I love this post.
2. How to Install Board and Batten.
3. DIY Window Boxes – these are on my list of projects to recreate.
4. Christmas votives – love these pretty candles…and that tree in the background. Lovely.
5. Halloween Mice – I enjoy this almost enough to try to remodel my staircase just like Sarah’s.
6. Metallic Pumpkins – metallic, need I say more?
7. DIY Orb Light Fixture – I am loving Sarah’s version of the orb light.
Gosh, there are so many to choose from. I sort of lost myself reading older posts that I enjoyed. You best just head right over to Sarah’s site, Thrifty Decor Chick, and peruse it yourself!
In the meantime, let’s take a look inside her bag…
What’s in My Handbag
Well hello! I’m so thrilled to be a part of this fun series Tauni put together! It’s funny, because I don’t really consider myself overly girly (I’m a power tool kind of gal), but I do love a good, cute purse.
Every six months or so I’ll purchase a new one – most of the time because the old one is just plain worn out. I’m not the type to change out my bag for a dinner out or to match my outfit – the purse I choose has to fit every scene. Usually I’ll visit my go-to spot for a new one (TJ Maxx), but this time I splurged. And I splurged because this one was love at first sight:
I saw a girl with this purse at the gym and was going to go up to her to ask her where she got it (which I NEVER do), but then she was gone. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the exact same purse in the window of Buckle a few days later.
I ran in (yes, ran…after a small squeal and a hop) and grabbed this one up because I just adore it. Isn’t it FUN? I don’t think I’ve ever owned a white(ish) purse, and I know it’s not allowed after Labor Day, but whatever…it’s staying till it falls apart. What you can’t see here is that it’s sparkly underneath that top part…so when it moves you see just a hint of bling.
I’m not good at switching out purses, in that I only grab the necessities from the old one and leave the trash, receipts and random change in there for a very long time. Like, forever. (I have three old purses filled with receipts in our master closet. Shhhh.)
So this one is fairly clean, which I assure you is highly unusual. Here’s what I found inside:
First off, my must haves – wet wipes, lotion and gummy worms. OK, the worms are from a movie the other night, they aren’t always in there. As far as you know. 😉
My checkbook without a cover, classy. A little lipstick bag so I can always find them in the purse. My sparkly nail grooming kit from Charming Charlie (that place is FUN). My phone and an extra charger for my phone because my husband was so tired of my phone dying. (I may have a teensy obsession with my iphone.) And a splurge from our latest trip to our favorite place on Earth last fall, my wallet from C. Wonder in NYC.
And even though I’ve only had this purse for a couple weeks, a few of the Bub’s additions have already snuck inside:
Thanks for having me Tauni! This was fun and I’ve loved peeking into the other bags as well!
Sarah, thank you so very much for sharing what’s in your bag. I loved it!
