Vintage Ornament Holiday Wreath

Hi there SNAPers!! I’m Jen from Tatertots & Jello. Can you believe it’s December already?? Are you ready for the most festive season of the year? I love this time of year. One of the things I love most about Christmas is the sense of history from seasons past.

Do you have a collection that you love to display at Christmas? I bought some vintage Christmas ornaments about 10 years ago. They are scratched up with wear but beautiful to me. I love to think of all of the Christmases these ornaments have seen, the memories they have made in all of those years.

I have put them on my tree over the years, but sadly a few have been dropped and been broken. So this year I decided that I wanted to find a way to display these little treasures that will show them off and keep them safe. I bought a white wreath at Michaels for $5. It’s a little retro looking and I thought it would be perfect to display my vintage ornament collection.

Here’s how I made my wreath:

  • I wanted to display the ornaments without ruining them. I took some wire and attached the ornaments with wire, twisting the wire securely. That way I can take them off whenever I want. But they are secure enough that they will be safe.

  • I added a few newer ornaments to fill in the wreath and add a little bling.

  • Then I added a bow to the side.

This wreath took me 1/2 hour to make and I love looking at it in my kitchen. It really shows off my little ornament collection!!

I hope YOU are having a great December and making memories with the people you love. Thanks for letting me share my little project with you!!

  1. STUNNING! My mom has some just like that. I might have to go and steal some!

    • Stacy, Isn’t Jen brilliant? I love her vintage wreath and I am hoping to find a few of the older ornaments while at my parents house this weekend too!

  2. I love this wreath! Vintage ornaments are by far my favorite to use at the holiday time. These ornaments remind me of the ones that would cover our tree while growing up.

    • Gertie, Sounds like you have lots of the older, vintage ornaments. I am so very jealous! I would love to have more of them in my home. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

  3. Thanks for letting me stop by!!

    • Jen, Thank you so very much for sharing your lovely wreath on the blog – what a great idea! I am hoping to dust off some vintage ornaments while at my parents house this weekend :)

  4. I bought that same wreath at Michael’s last week to do the same thing. :) Vintage ornaments really pop on the white–if I had more room in my house, I’d have a white tree to display all of mine on, since I have a huge collection. Your wreath turned out great!

  5. What a beautiful creation!

  6. what a great idea! i have all my grandmother’s ornaments but i haven’t put them out since the kids were little-this is perfect-they would be out but the kids wouldn’t be able to touch! i think i have a few of the sames ones as you :)

    • Dawn, Thanks for coming over and leaving a comment on the site! Wasn’t Jen’s vintage holiday wreath lovely? I am hoping to find some older ornaments at my parents house this weekend :)

  7. This is beautiful. I gave all of my Christmas ornaments away. Now I wish I would have kept some of them.
