How to Increase Facebook Page Likes for Free!

There are few conversations among bloggers and small business owners more heated than those about Facebook engagement, like generation and reach. Frequent changes to “like” generation, giveaway rules, engagement and the algorithm have chased some entrepreneurs away entirely and few are still focused on an increase Facebook Page likes.

Despite all that I have remained and continue to invest in my Facebook page. Facebook is still the biggest social network out there, with 1.55 billion monthly active users as of September 2015 (YouTube comes in second with over one billion monthly active users) and a wealth of opportunity.

In September I made the decision to refocus on Facebook and work on my page growth. In the last two months it has grown by nearly 30,000 fans.

There are a number of things that I’ve done to increase Facebook likes on my page, but the simplest has been to extend a like invitation to those already engaged.

How to Increase Facebook Page Likes

Most Facebook Page owners are familiar with how to invite friends to like their page (if you don’t know how to do this, leave me a note in the comments and I will walk you through it), but did you know that you can also invite anyone who’s engaged with a post you shared to like your page for FREE? Depending on the engagement your page has this can add up to thousands of Facebook users each day!

How to Invite Facebook Users to Like Your Page

Visit your Facebook page. Make sure you’re signed in to post and engage as your page.

Scroll down to a recent post with engaged users. Here’s one of mine…

Click on the “others like this” hyperlink.

A window will pop up on your screen with the heading “Invite People Who Like This Post to Like Your Page.”

Simply scroll through the list, clicking the invite button where applicable.

Simple as that.

Typically when employing this tactic, I see a pretty immediate increase in Facebook page likes.

It’s important to note, that while I use this tactic on about 80% of my posts, there are some I don’t. I try to select posts that are very specific to my niche brand so that if the fan responds to my invitation, it’s someone who will be engaged with future posts.

  1. Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I never thought to do that on the likes. Question is that I share my post usually on my main page and then on my business page and blog page. If you share it on all 3 can you still invite people to like a certain page or will they be directed to the page you are trying to promote.

Example if I share it on my Avon Page, Trina O’Neil, ISR and Team Leader and then share it on my Walking My Own Path page which then gets shared to my personal page. Will it link back to the original location of the post or the one that they click on?

  2. Thanks for a great tip! I figured out that I have to be logged in as myself and not my page on FB for this to work. My other challenge is that most of my posts get a handful of likes, but rarely enough for the “and xx others” like this to appear.

    • Laura, Yes. I think I need to add that to the post. I was just instant messaging with someone over the same issue. So, here’s the great thing you can do on the likes…Go to a BIG page that has similar branding to you. Find a post that’s doing really well. Share the post during prime hours. It should get more likes and you should be able to use that to your advantage! xo Tauni

    • Jennifer, it sounds as if you may not be logged in properly to see the option. The “invite friends” button only appears if you logged in as yourself and are an Admin of the Page. If you switch to the voice of your Page you won’t see the buttons. Good luck! xo Tauni

  3. Great post, Tauni but I’m having trouble with it. I am posting as The TomKat Studio, but I’ve tried several ways to switch to be posting as Kim and then my page disappears except the heading. (When I go to Settings, Post Attribution) So weird. When I go to compose a new post, and hit the little image dropdown, and try to switch to posting as me, it doesn’t take. Any additional advice?

    • Kim, that’s so strange. I have page attribution set up so that I am signed in with my personal account, but the page always posts as Snap. Maybe check that? Go to settings and then Page Attribution is on the left. I have learned that this feature is kind of buggy and some people don’t have it.
      Boo.

    • So annoying Amy! What is yours showing up as? I know this feature is really buggy, but there’s a chance your page attribution could be set differently? I have mine set so that I am logged in with my personal account, but when I post to a page it always attributes as the page (unless I drop down and change it). I hate when things don’t work for everyone.

  4. Hi there! Great tip. I got it to work by using Facebook thru my personal account, Jayne Ann. I didn’t get the option to “invite” when using as my Chalk Mercantile page. Thanks for this post!!!

  5. GREAT post! I will be sure to use it! I was wondering can you invite people who liked your stuff on another page? (I posted on my page and shared to another).

Can you also invite people who have shared your page?? I just got a notification from someone who I don’t know who shared my facebook page onto her personal timeline and I would like to be able to invite her…. any ideas? 🙂

    • Hi Zahra, Glad you found this helpful. Unfortunately you cannot invite people who’ve liked a post on another page. I am not 100% sure I understand your second question. If she’s just shared a post, you should be able to invite her via the process outlined. If she’s simply shared your page, I am not aware of a way to do that other than to comment on the share if possible.

      Good luck! Tauni

    • Hmmm. I am not sure why that is the case Michelle. It’s probably something in your settings or how you’re signed in. I am sorry I can’t help you more. –Tauni

  6. Tauni…I need help inviting friends to my FB social media page and tips to promoting it for free! thank you for the great post, insight and future help on promoting my business!! ?????-Shelly

  7. Thank you for the great tips, however my personal facebook and my like page are linked somehow and I can’t get to the part where I can invite people to like my page…
I can invite them though….but they will be invited soley to my personal page! What am I doing wrong here?
    Kind regards,
    Iganda

    • Iganda, I am sorry, but I haven’t seen this issue before. I’m guessing that you’re operating your page as you, instead of as the page and you need to switch in the preferences? Good luck! –Tauni

      • Hi Tauni,
I really don’t know how or where to do that…
I never had a seperate log in for my page. Do you haplen to know how I can log in seperately?
        Kind regards,

        Iganda

        • Iganda, There isn’t a separate login. You would need to adjust your settings (top right) and ensure that you’re commenting as your page when you’re on the page. Unfortunately, it’s difficult for me to help diagnose the problem and set forth a solution without a clear understanding of what’s taking place. Perhaps there is a school or resource center near you that could sit down in person? Good luck! xoxo

          • Thank you Tauni for trying to help. I will try to see if it works on the computer instead of my phone…
            Thanks.

          • Hi Iganda, If you’re trying to access this opportunity via your phone. I am not sure it will work. At the very least you should be using the app specific to Pages, rather than the regular FB app. Good luck! Tauni
