When I started work on my guest room a few weeks ago, my biggest concern was how on Earth I was going to be able to fill all the wall space affordably. I really needed to reserve the bulk of my budget for furniture pieces and artwork can be so expensive!
Yesterday I shared the fun llama print that I designed the room around, but it filled just one tiny nook. I had a full wall across the room that needed…something. I shopped all of my favorite stops, but just couldn’t find anything. In the end, I decided to come up with something on my own.
I love creating simple typography. I’ve created pillows, totes, t-shirts, you name it. In fact, it’s become a bit of a joke with Jay’s girls, who’ve informed me that “not everything needs words on it.” Ha! Nevertheless, I decided to run with three, colorful posters featuring a soft take on travel and adventure.
Travel and Adventure Prints for the Guest Room
The typographic travel and adventure prints I created for the guest room are each done in a solid color (orange, blue and pink). The colors are pulled from the llama print, so they match perfectly! Not necessarily a must in a colorful room like my guest room, but it ties the room together so well.
As I’ve mentioned in the past I am willing to invest in artwork when warranted and I always print family photos with a professional printer. However with small, budget pieces like these I will print them on my Canon Pixma Pro (11×14 and smaller) or at Costco’s Photo Center. These prints are 16×20 and were printed at the Photo Center for less than $10.
I use Ikea’s white Ribba frames throughout my home. The nice crip white allows the attention to fall on the artwork AND it’s inexpensive.
All told, the four prints in this room cost under $80 to print, frame and hang.
These prints can be printed as an 8×10 or 16×20.
